AFTER SIX YEARS OF ACTIVITIES, THE C.S.A. LA CUESTA CLOSE ITS DOORS

Like a farewell, this article that closes the number 2 of the fanzine "Gritos de Jabalí", which it's just released in october'06 with CD compilation with 35 bands in live in La Cuesta:

Everything has an end...

Well, because it happened at the end… after 6 years of activities, concerts, and mainly memories… many memories, a cycle is closed which have marked our lives, closes the C.S.A. Cuesta. Many are the lived moments, for which we have dedicated as much time, effort and illusions, that we have received so many joys, disappointments, bad and good moments, this is a special moment. A cycle is over which began its walking by the summer of the 2000 there. I will never forget that assembly which I attended when I returned from spending the summer in Scotland: as much people as I had never imagined, so implied and with so many desire to make things, we were 30 people in a fucking town like this. There were many good things, many activities but the time passed and like always happens, less implied people definitively leaved of let imply themselves; to the activities, once passed the newness, started to come much less people, during long time this place were managed between four people and ended up limiting the activities to concerts, because other things the people almost nor attended (is necessary to remember that also there was theater here, videos, an attempt to make a cycle of films, library, popular meals, gymkhanas, tasting meals ….). There were mythical concerts, because of diferent things (for me in particular those of Sargento Pletina, Calloused, Petrograd, NNY, Remains of the Day, Loquero, some german bands, E-150 and Zanussi, Human Bastard, Asto Pituak, Muletrain - where I left my nose in the ground of La Cuesta and ended up with lots of blood-, Brigada Criminal, NCC, Lobo Electrico, that hero called "El More", those of Fulminantes, Destruccion, Perdedores, Antibioticos… and so many others… - here have played more than 250 bands, of them, more than 50 foreign bands, is not bad… -). Unfortunately everything finishes, we have not obtained that generational relief that we wished, among other things. Now the place is destroyed, with part of the roof fallen, and that united with problems that already existed and is better to close a cycle, but… somebody will take the relief someday? Hopefully that yes… Like everything, it was pretty while it lasted, there was happy moments and disappointments but everything finish and for some of us, by a few reasons it had already came the moment for finishing what we began a day of summer of 6 years ago. Hoping that you have enjoyed, and feeling bad by those who in all this time have just criticized and never have come, we left a hollow that hopefully somebody manages to return to fill someday, because this town will return to be even more disgusting without a place like La Cuesta. We did what we could and by the truth, is not little, we got here playing many fucking good bands, a few of them, international bands and although it could be possible to have been done much more, that it could be possible to have been attracted more people, to that it could be …, this town is what it is and we can be proud of the made labour in these 6 years... How the time passes! Who could says us that this place would remain as much time when we began. In short, life go on and everything has an end, but it was pretty, hard and exciting meanwhile.

NEITHER WAR BETWEEN WORKING PEOPLE NOR PEACE BETWEEN CLASSES

We continue explaning what this proyect it meant:

We were bored of living in a city where the activities for young people are just a cinema´s screen, a fucking park and a concert of the fucking 'fashion band' per year.

So bored, than a group of persons joined and opened a place that we pretended itt to be a center of expression,meeting and coexistence between people interested in something more than soccer and cars, two reasons that seems the motive for living of the most of the people in our city concretely, and of the society in general.

During a lot of time a few people from this collective tried to make activities by their own in the city´s places and city´s associations; these people only found a lot of troubles and finally, after seeing that all was wasting time, we noticed that the best way is the DIY (Do It Yourself) way . And there we were, a group of people with a series of common things that decided to rent a place, where we can develop our things with no need to request nor to receive nothing from anybody, self-managing the premises with our activities and demonstrating of once that the people of this city is every time less apathetic, every time has more desire to do and to participate in things and making clear that although without resources, great means, partners, subventions of any type and using the places of the city council, but with desire and illusion, it is possible to bring up .


The activities that are developed in these walls depended as much on us as of you..
This place were opened to any interested people and who wanted to develop here their things.

This place was born in july,2000 and on last september, 2006 after six years of activities, the C.S.A. La Cuesta definitively closed its doors, these are a few of the activities and gigs in this 6 years:

Take a look: There are bands who are not here because I were a lot of time without upload the web, we would like to fill this with all of them, so if you have played in La Cuesta and your band name is not here, say to us to fill it. Thanx!!

Lots of great nights of concerts, in short .

Our activities have been since then: concerts , talks (against the swamp in Enciso, about the war in Afganistán and about squat movement in the Basque Country), vídeos (about anarchy, the role of the woman in the Spanish Civil War, against the swamp in Itoitz, "10 años de autogestión" (10 years of DIY) of Sin Dios (a spanish band), "Life in the fast line -the history of the NO M11-" and a few musical videos), three concentrations (one antifascist on november,20 (day when Franco died), one against the swamp in Enciso and the last one on june,20 (day of the general strike) against the precariety in the jobs and the last labour reform), as well a few feast-hearings , courses , tastings (of mushrooms, guacamole, snacks) y vegan lunches , gymcanas , karaoke, theatre (with the play "El Pacto" ("The Pact") by the THC company, and "The bitch in the mental institution" of Darío Fo played by Virginia). As well we created a theatre´s group, and we were preparing a comedy by a La Cuesta's and the theater group's member, we also created a reference library and edit anti-bullfight posters and stickers , a popular sign of sale and interchange , as well we released the fanzine "Piedras y Gasolina" with three issues in the street and between 150-300 units, and the label "Piedras y Gasolina Distro".
